This document sets out the terms and conditions under which the “HELLENIC BROADCASTING CORPORATION S.A. (E.R.T. S.A.)”, hereinafter “ERT”, provides the public with the ERTFLIX Service, in fulfillment of its statutory purposes under Law 4173/2013.
The ERTFLIX Service, hereinafter referred to as the “Service”, is defined as the digital platform for the provision of audiovisual streaming services of E.R.T. S.A., which enables the user to watch live streaming of its television and radio stations, its thematic channels, licensed stations/channels/services of third parties, and at the same time makes available specific audiovisual content for viewing at the time of the user’s choosing (“Video On Demand” or VoD).
Access to the Service is possible via computers, smart portable devices (mobile phones/tablets), televisions with smart TV operating systems or HybridTV (HbbTV) functionality, Set-Top Boxes (STB), as well as other devices, provided that an active Internet connection/access and a basic smart TV operating system are available.
The Service is available to the public free of charge. For access from abroad, the platform is available only to registered users. Access by users within the European Union is governed by EU legislation on cross-border portability of online content services in the internal market (Regulation (EU) 2017/1128).
Acceptance
Unreserved acceptance of these Terms of Use is required for the provision of the Service by ERT. Users declare, in the manner specified at the end of these terms, that they have read, understood, and accepted these Terms of Use, which are available to them at any time (here).
1. DEFINITIONS
For the purposes of these Terms of Use, the following terms shall have the meanings set forth below:
ERT: “HELLENIC BROADCASTING CORPORATION S.A. (E.R.T. S.A.)”, established under Law 4173/2013 (Government Gazette A’ 169/26.7.2013), as amended and in force, with the purpose of operating television and radio stations, websites, and providing all kinds of audiovisual services using any technical method or medium. The Service is provided to the public within the framework of ERT’s statutory mission.
SERVICE: The service described in detail above, provided to the public by ERT.
CONTENT: The audiovisual and/or audio material made available through the Service. The content covers various categories (informational, cultural, educational, entertainment, sports, children’s). The content is updated and/or replaced at ERT’s sole discretion. ERT has secured all relevant rights for the content available to its users. Available content may vary by geographic region and may be subject to territorial restrictions (geo-blocking) for copyright protection purposes.
EQUIPMENT: The necessary technical equipment for users to connect to ERTFLIX, namely a device supporting the ERTFLIX application (television, computer, mobile device, or tablet, etc.) with an active Internet connection.
ERT bears no liability whatsoever for any inability to access the Service resulting from unsuitable equipment or inability to connect to the Internet at the required speed, as further specified under Section 5 below.
USER: Any individual user of the Service who accepts these terms and uses the content exclusively for private viewing/listening. Any other use or commercial exploitation of the Service content is expressly prohibited and violates applicable copyright laws.
2.ACCOUNT CREATION
A. The Service is available free of charge. For access from abroad, users are required to create a personal account, hereinafter “ERTFLIX Account”, via the website www.ertflix.gr. Users may delete their account at any time.
B. Users must be over 18 years of age to create an account. Use of the Service by minors is permitted only under the supervision of a parent or legal guardian exercising parental responsibility. ERT shall not be liable for use of the Service by minors who access devices connected to adult users’ accounts.
3. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS
The content of the Service constitutes, in its entirety, subject matter protected by applicable national, EU, and international copyright law. All trademarks, distinctive features, methods, and programs used by ERT in the operation of the Service constitute assets of ERT, over which users have no rights.
It is strictly prohibited, by any technical means, to store the Service content locally, in whole or in part, in the same or any other audio or visual format, whether existing now or developed in the future. It is also prohibited to extract and store content such as photographs, logos, texts, animations, gifs, sounds, images, static or moving, on any local medium (mechanical or electronic).
Any unauthorized use of the Service is subject to criminal prosecution under Law 2121/1993, Articles 386 and 386A of the Greek Penal Code, and other applicable provisions of Greek and European legislation.
Users agree, indicatively:
(i) not to archive, reproduce, distribute, modify, display, present to the public, publish, sublicense, create derivative works, or offer for sale any content,
(ii) not to use related information obtained from the Service, nor to not to circumvent, remove, alter, disable, block, conceal or otherwise interfere with content protection mechanisms or other Service features, including user interface elements, copyright notices, and trademarks,
(iii) not to use bots, spiders, data mining tools, or other automated means to access the Service and any data of any type of content thereof,
(iv) not to reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any software or other products or processes accessible through the Service,
(v) not to insert codes, products, or markings or otherwise alter the Service content in any manner whatsoever,
(vi) not to engage in data mining, harvesting, or extraction,
(vii) not to upload, post, email, or transmit material intended to disrupt, damage, or limit the functionality of any software, hardware, or telecommunications equipment related to the Service, including viruses or other malicious code.ν λογισμικού ή άλλου κώδικα υπολογιστή, αρχείων ή προγραμμάτων.
4. SERVICE STREAMING QUALITY SPECIFICATIONS
🔹 A. Content Playbak Quality
Playback quality may vary depending on user location, available bandwidth, and Internet speed.
The quality of streaming and playback of content transmitted via the Internet may vary from device to device and depends on various factors, such as:
- User location
- Available bandwidth
- Internet Speed
🔹 B. Minimum Connection Speeds for Smooth Streaming
For smooth streaming of content, the minimum required Internet connection speeds are as follows:
- Low quality (216p to 360p resolution): 1.5 Mbps
- Medium quality (576p resolution): 3 Mbps
- High quality (720p to 1080p resolution): 5 Mbps
Faster internet connections are recommended for optimal viewing experience.
🔹 C. User Responsibility for Connections
The user is solely responsible for any Internet access charges. For information regarding potential data charges, please contact your Internet service provider.
🔹 D. Variability of Playback Start Time
The time required for playback to start may vary, as it is affected by factors such as:
- the user’s location,
- the available bandwidth,
- the selected content,
- as well as the settings of the device being used.
ERT shall not be liable for the speed or quality of the Internet connection, as these depend solely on the respective Internet service provider.
🔹 E. Availability of HD / Ultra HD / HDR Quality
The availability of content in HD, Ultra HD, or HDR quality depends on the technical capabilities of both the user’s Internet connection and device.
Not all content is available in all quality formats, nor do all programs support playback or download in HD, Ultra HD, or HDR.
🔹 F. Minimum and Recommended Speeds for HD / Ultra HD
- HD (720p or higher): Minimum speed of 3 Mbps per stream
- Full HD (1080p or higher): Recommended speed of 5 Mbps per stream
- Ultra HD / 4K: Recommended speed of 15 Mbps per stream
5. ACCESS
Account and User Profile Management
Users who create an account with the Service automatically receive a private profile, which they can customize according to their preferences. The processing of their personal data (such as email, first name, last name, country) is carried out in accordance with the specific terms described below, as well as in the Service’s Privacy Policy.
Through their personal profile, users have the ability to:
- create lists of favorite content,
- resume viewing from where they left off,
- manage parental control settings.
The user who creates an account on the ERTFLIX digital platform is the sole party with full access to and control over their information and settings. To ensure the privacy and security of the account (including data such as viewing history), login credentials and passwords must not be shared with third parties.
Users are responsible for:
· maintaining the confidentiality of their login credentials,
· ensuring that their personal information, as registered in their profile, is accurate and updated in a timely manner.
6. MODIFICATION OF SERVICE TERMS
ERT reserves the right to modify, amend, or remove any term or terms of the Service’s Terms of Use. The currently applicable Terms of Use will be posted on this website.
If users do not wish to accept the changes, they may delete their account.
7. SERVICE AVAILABILITY INTERRUPTIONS AND MAINTENANCE
The Service is provided on a twenty-four (24) hour basis, three hundred sixty-five (365) days per year.
ERT shall not be liable for any damages that may result from the unavailability of the Service or its temporary suspension for reasons unrelated to the operation of the Service, including accidental events, force majeure, or interference by a third party or user. In the event of an interruption due to time required for improving the Service or for maintenance or upgrading of the relevant systems, ERT will notify users through the available channels whenever technically feasible, within a reasonable time frame, to complete the maintenance work. ERT commits that such improvement and maintenance work on the Service will be carried out in the shortest possible time.
8. PERSONAL DATA
ERT acts as the data controller of each user’s personal data and takes all appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect such data in accordance with domestic and EU legislation.
Users agree that their personal data (email, first name, last name, country), which they provide to ERT in the context of the provision of the ERTFLIX Service, will be used by ERT exclusively for the purposes of fulfilling its contractual obligations related to the provision of the ERTFLIX Service.
Recipients of the personal data of Service users include ERT and any other natural or legal person connected with it in the context of providing the Service, as well as any competent authority or public body as required by law. ERTFLIX has ensured that every natural or legal person collaborating with it complies with the corresponding measures for the protection of users’ personal data that come into their knowledge or possession.
Users have all rights recognized under the General Data Protection Regulation, namely Regulation (EU) 2016/679, and national legislation, Law 4624/2019, in particular the rights of information and access, rectification, deletion, and portability of their data, as well as the right to object, withdraw consent, or restrict processing concerning them. To exercise any of the above rights, users may contact the Data Protection Officer at dpo@ert.gr (L. Mesogeion 432, Agia Paraskevi, Tel. +30 210 6092514-5). Users also retain the right to file a complaint with the Hellenic Data Protection Authority (Kifisias 1-3, Athens, 11523, Tel. +30 2106475600, contact@dpa.gr) if they believe their personal data are being processed in violation of the applicable regulatory framework or if they do not receive an adequate or timely response when exercising any of their rights.
Who are the recipients and for what purpose are personal data transferred?
Specific recipients for the service are:
- NAGRAVISION, for the purpose of providing the service (Streaming Service only),
- Nice People at Work, which is established in the EU and contributes to the proper functioning of the service by analyzing diagnostic data and statistics from the digital platform (Streaming Service only),
- ARXNET (Greece) and Phaistos Networks S.A. (Greece), which use the data to enable the display of advertising messages on the digital platform (Streaming Service only).
9. ADVERTISING
The Service, including on-demand content (VOD) as well as live-streaming channels, may embed/display advertising messages and other types of commercial announcements, in accordance with the terms and restrictions of applicable law.

10. MISCELLANEOUS TERMS
Governing Law. These Terms of Use have been drafted in accordance with Greek law and shall be interpreted accordingly.
Electronic Communication. Any updates or notifications regarding the Service or the ERTFLIX account (e.g., password changes, confirmation messages, alerts) will be sent electronically to the email address provided during registration.
